8 Things I Hate About the Peloton Bike Plus

Today I’m going to tell you 8 things I hate about the Peloton bike plus… but please don’t take this the wrong way.

I actually love the Peloton bike plus, and often times when I’m doing a ride just for myself, for exercise and not reviewing a bike or comparing a bike I choose the Peloton Bike Plus to ride on. There’s a lot of things I love about this bike, but it’s not perfect.

So let me show you the eight things I hate about the Peloton Bike+.

1. The Handlebars

The first thing I hate about the Peloton Bike Plus is the handlebars come loose, and when they come loose, the entire handlebar assembly gets really rocky and shaky. Of course, it’s an easy fix. All you have to do is tighten them up every now and then. And probably if you put a little bit of lock tight on them, they probably never come loose again.

But honestly, it is something that happens, and I’m not the only one this happens to. So, yeah, it’s an easy fix, but it is kind of annoying and you have to keep doing it over and over because they do keep coming loose.

2. Scenic Rides

The second thing I hate about the Peloton bike plus is the scenic ride. So yeah, there is a decent selection. But if you compare these scenic rides on the Peloton bike plus compared to what iFit has offer, there really is no comparison.

For example, let’s take a look at this New Zealand ride, and here’s what you get (see video above). Sure, it’s something pretty to look at, but it’s not anything like what you get on iFit, where you follow an actual instructor and have an instructor led class.

This is basically just like a drone kind of going along a trail out in the mountains, and it kind of just cuts from one scene to another. So it’s not like you’re actually riding your bike out in these locations on the scenic rides in the Peloton Bike Plus sure is better than nothing at all. But really, when you compare this to what iFt has offer for the outdoor instructor led rides, there really is just no comparison between the two. Of course, where Peloton shines as the studio rides and I love the studio rides, but that’ll be in my video about things I love about the Peloton Bike Plus.

3. The Tablet Resolution

But while we’re here looking at the screen, let me tell you the third thing I hate about the Peloton Bike Plus, and that is the resolution of the screen. Honestly, it’s not bad, but it is 1080p and not 4K, and you are really close to the screen when you’re riding.

I wouldn’t judge the screen based on my camera footage and whatever device you’re watching on. But when I’m riding this bike and I’m close to the monitor, you can kind of see some like pixelation and fuzziness to it from a distance.

The resolution looks really good and the picture looks really good. But honestly, with the screen being so close to your face, you can kind of see a little bit of fuzziness to it when you’re doing a ride. Additionally, looking at the text on the screen is really just not that sharp compared to a lot of the other screens I use. It’s not terrible. In fact, it’s pretty good, but I do wish it was better.

4. Handlebars Lack Full Adjustment

Number four on the list is the handlebars do not go forwards and backwards. Of course, this bike does have great adjustability.

There are micro adjustments for raising and lowering the seat and moving the seat forwards and backwards, but ultimately the Peloton Bike Plus is only three way adjustable. In comparison (see video), here’s a bike I bought on Amazon for $600, and the handlebars on the Sunny 1805 do move forwards and backwards.

And ultimately, the adjustability on the Peloton Bike Plus is pretty good, but really to get yourself dialed in for that perfect riding position, it’d be great if the handlebars would move forwards and backwards.

5. Volume Adjustments

Number five is the volume adjustments. Over on the right side as I adjust the volume with the big rocker buttons., the volume jumps quite a bit for each time I press the button. Additionally, there really is no option to turn off the music in these rides. Basically, you can either choose to add more instructor voice or more music voice or like that 50/50 balance (the standard), but there is no way to completely turn off the music and only listen to the instructor if you want to listen to your own music.

6. The Pedals

Number six is the stock pedals that come on the bike. These pedals were incredibly difficult to clip in and clip out. We just had a lot of trouble with them, so we took them off and put on our own pedals. Of course the pedals that come on the Peloton Bike are more premium than what come on the NordicTrack S22i albeit less versatile.

Also, I have seen nightmare stories about Peloton pedals snapping off while they’re in the middle of a ride.

7. Delivery Wait Time (may be improved)

Number seven on the list is the wait time. I can’t even tell you how many times on social media I’ve seen people post their excitement about their new Peloton bike plus supposedly arriving the next day.

And then they abruptly get an email the night before or the morning of our phone call, saying that their delivery is going to need to be rescheduled to a few more weeks or a few more months out. It really just kind of depends.

So it really kind of sucks that right now, if you want to buy a Peloton bike plus or even a standard Peloton bike, there is a long wait to get your bike and then it might possibly be delayed even further.

8. Weight Holder Positions

The last thing on my list of things I hate about the Peloton Bike Plus are the weight holder positions and how the weights aren’t secured in and if you want to move the bike. I’ve had these weights fall out of their weight holder and come crashing down on the ground several times.

So obviously not everybody is going to be moving their bike around as much as me because I have, I think, ten bikes in here right now and I review a lot of bikes. So this probably isn’t going to be a problem for most people.

But you should be aware if you are moving this bike, don’t forget to move those weights out of there because they will come crashing forward down on the ground and they might hit the frame.

Conclusion

So those are the eight things I hate about the Peloton Bike Plus, but of course, I actually love the Peloton Bike Plus and this is one of my favorite bikes, if not my favorite bike out of the bunch I have here, so I hope I didn’t hurt anybody’s feelings talking about the things that I dislike about the Peloton Bike Plus.
