TailHappyTV Top Recommended Ebikes

Sup dudes, Matt here. These are my personal favorite and top recommended ebikes. Most of these are pretty JUICY machines, but there’s something practical at the end.

Top Pick #1 – Magician Alpha

The Pros: This absolute beast of an electric bike is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

It runs on 72 volts and pushes 5000 watts to the rear Bafang brand hub motor and can easily hit 50 MPH without even pedaling, in complete silence, all while maintaining the appearance of a normal electric bicycle you’d find in the “normie section” at the bottom of this page, and it also has functioning pedals so you can get some optional exercise while riding.

The entire system is Bafang brand (the motor, the controller, the display, and the torque sensor are all Bafang) which results in a refined system operation (Bafang has been making ebike motors etc since 2003 and they have a strong reputation for building reliable and affordable ebike components).

The 5000 watts of power is an absurdly large number, but the power delivery is actually exceptionally controllable via the quarter twist throttle and also the torque sensor pedal assist system. Sometimes big power bikes like this one are so powerful they feel dangerous to operate due to the lack of ability to fine tune and ability control the power output delivery, but that is not the case with this ebike.

Additionally, the 5000 watt motor is almost silent to my surprise. This is the quietest high power geared hub motor I’ve ever tested.

If you want a LARGE and POWERFUL ebike that’s also a fantastic value, this is THE ticket, especially at the current limited time price with my exclusive discount code.

The cons: Be mindful this ebike is very big, and very powerful, so it’s not for everyone, it can go 50 mph. This is essentially a “light motorcycle” that looks like a “bicycle”, it weighs around 134 lbs with both batteries on it). This is not the kind of ebike you can realistically ride without using the power of the motor and batteries due to the weight.

Another con, depending on what you personally want, may be this ebike does not have “insane torque” starting from 0 mph compared to other ebikes I’ve tried. The torque is more than adequate, but this ebike is not going to “power wheelie” on you and throw you off the back onto your butt. The power is modulated at slower speeds (0-10 mph) for safety, and for smooth operation, then ramps up as you gain speed. (this is modifiable with the BAFANG tuning tool)

Another con is the bike does not ship immediately. As of me writing this (June 8 2025) the Magician Alpha ebikes are pre-order status and the first batch will be shipped out to the consumer in early August, so there is a short wait, but that’s kinda the trade off when buying these hot new high power ebikes on the bleeding edge of what’s possible and also the steep discount pricing.

The bottom line is this 72v 50mph ebike is one of the most badass ebikes ever brought to market, and at this limited time price it’s a no brainer.

Top Pick – Wired Scout

72 Volts, 53 MPH top speed. It’s insane.

This is an “ebike” that looks like a typical fatty, but rides like a motorcycle.

It’s loud because of it’s straight cut steel gears in it’s proprietary Hentach hub motor.

The amount of torque the Wired Scout delivers is unlike any other hub motor I’ve ever tried. Under full throttle the front wheel lifts off the ground as this ebike launches itself forward like a bat out of hell.

I would not recommend this ebike to someone looking for a chill riding experience nor to a newbie rider. The Scout and Warrior 72 volt ebike is only for those of you looking for the most thrilling riding experience money can buy on a “electric bicycle with pedals”. If that’s you, buy this. You’ll love it.

Wired discounts are a scarce commodity so take what you can get, and grab one while they’re in stock.

https://tailhappytv.com/wired-72v-discount

This link brings you to the Scout webpage, but the link activates a discount on any Wired ebike, even the 60 volt variants (Freedom and Cruiser) which are less intense. The discount also applies to the Warrior.

The Wired Warrior is the “high step” frame variant of the Wired Scout. You’ll get a bit more frame rigidity on the Warrior at the expense of “ease of access” getting on and off this beast.

Wired Scout Cons:

Some of the downsides of the Scout and Warrior are weight, noise, and the torque sensor pedal assist system. The torque sensor is not the smoothest I’ve ever tried. The weight of the bike is just over 140 lbs with both batteries, and the rear battery is heavy and mounted on the rear rack which is in a constant fight with the laws of physics when it comes to handling and suspension feel. You don’t need to run both batteries, and also you do adapt to the weight over time.

Wired Scout Pros:

We’ve basically already hit the pros. Torque, Power, Speed, Range. The pinnacle of performance with little regard for any other consideration.

The pros outweigh the cons if you want the JUICE, but for “normal” riders the Scout is going to be a handful. The Wired Scout is a very exciting ebike to ride.

Top Pick – The Mini Goat (50 MPH)

The Mini Goat is a small and very powerful silent pocket rocket of an ebike.

This ebike is ideal for those of you who want the moped style, but you’re tired of payong Super73 prices for boring performace.

The Mini Goat brings the JUICE at a price point the blows away the titans in the “moped ebike space”.

It’s got pedals, but they’re only for show and for a bit of help on the steepest of steep climbs.

The “Direct Drive” hub motor runs completely silent on the streets. It’s great for high speed cruising. The “power curve” is basically 15 mph – 45 mph, this is where the bike feels strongest.

Mini Goat – click and use code TAILHAPPYTV for 5% off your entire order

Pros: Silent, unsuspecting, huge range ability depending on battery choice, comfy rear, suspension, looks badass, great for short riders, full twist throttle

Cons: not the #1 best hill climber (relative to mid drive or geared hub motors), the small size can be a con for tall riders, not a pedal bike, frame battery is difficult to remove if you need to pick the bike up ever

The Mini Goat is the pinnacle of “power for the dollar” packed into a tiny and silent form factor that rides smooth, fast, and comfy.

The motor on the Mini Goat is my favorite compared the the Motor Goat or the Billy Goat, but the bikes listed below are a “larger” form factor and good power for the dollar too.

Top Pick – The Motor Goat (44 mph)

This is your classical “Super 73” or “Moped style” ebike, but it’s got THE JUICE. For the money you’ll be hard pressed to find something as thrilling in this form factor.

The Cons: it’s pretty much a “throttle only” kinda ebike due to weight and size, these style ebikes are awkward to pedal, so don’t think you’re gonna get much exercise on something like this. It’s VERY fast, which isn’t for everyone.

The Pros: great for shorter riders, great style, great bang for buck, has optional “frame” battery which gives you superhuman range

Top Pick – The Billy Goat (48 mph)

Basically tied with the other “goat bike” – The Billy Goat and The Motor Goat are nearly identical now.

PROS: You get a bit more ground clearance with the Billy Goat compared to the Motor Goat, so Billy Goat is better for off roading.

CONS: The seat on the Motor Goat is more comfortable compared to the Billy Goat in my personal opinion. It may be too much speed for some people. Not the best “climber” due to “direct drive/speed motor”

Top Pick – Wired Freedom Ebike

Click here to buy it: https://bit.ly/new-wired-freedom

The Pros: If you want a LARGE and POWERFUL ebike that’s also a “good value”, this is a great option. You can actually pedal it and get exercise and also be comfortable. There’s lot of color options. It ships quick. It’s got big torque, and it’s 60 volts delivering exceptional power.

The cons: Be mindful this ebike is very big, and very powerful, so it’s not for everyone, it can go 43 mph. This is essentially a “light motorcycle” that looks like a “bicycle”. The steel reinforced gears are a bit noisy.

They make a step thru frame variation as well, which is better for shorter riders. If you don’t need or want BIG power I have another “normal power ebike” recommendation further down this list in the Normie section.

Top Pick – Trail Ebike – Magician Atlas

Trail riding requires a different kind of ebike. Mid Drive ebikes shine for off roading because the motor is mounted on the bottom bracket of the frame which has two significant benefits:

  • Less “unsprung mass” on the rear wheel.
  • More effective torque for climbing hills

Traditional “hub motor” ebikes have the motor sitting inside the rear wheel, which is a horrible place for weight because the rear suspension must deal with all the weight of the motor. The Mid Drive motor solves this problem by deleting all that weight off the rear wheel and putting it low down and centered and also converts it to “sprung mass” which is exceptional for handling.

The Magician Atlas is my top pick Trail Ebike for a TON of reasons. The the price of the Atlas, this ebike demolishes the competition.

https://tailhappytv.com/atlas-discount – use code TAILHAPPY for $100 off

I made 2 in depth videos on this ebike showcasing everything, here’s the highlights.

The Bafang 1500W motor is VERY powerful compared to 99% of what else you’ll find on any other ebikes both online and local bike shops.

It’s got a KKE airshock on from and RockShox Monarch air shock on rear with 4 bar linkage (very nice suspension at this price)

It’s got a narrow-wide chain ring to keep the chain on (these are the best)

It’s a 52 volt system, 20ah battery. Samsung cells. Big power, good range.

The SRAM drivetrain components are great,

SRAM 4 piston brakes too.

For the money, this ebike absolutely CRUSHES the competition.

The only downside I’d say is the fact that it’s a mid drive means you must use the gears, and also the accompanying noise of a mid drive motor. Mid drives are different then hub drive motors, so just understand the difference of Mid drive vs Hub drive before committing.

The Magician Atlas has exceptional handling, comfort, torque, and value for the money.

#1 Recommended – Velotric Discover 2

This is bike has it all, and at an affordable price. It ain’t the cheapest, but it’s good and it’s gonna last. Top speed is 28 MPH. It’s UL Certified. It has a fantastic torque sensor for smooth natural feeling pedaling. It’s not too heavy, and also not too light (yes, ebikes can be too light in my opinion aka not enough range/torque/power). It’s easy to hop on and off with the step thru frame and upright riding position. Excellent screen and menus. It’s got a warranty.

PROS: excellent ebike to pedal, the ebike is lightweight so your effort makes a meaningful impact on range, lightweight riders can handle this ebike, low step thru frame makes it easy to mount, fantastic ride modes and display, UL certified, excellent riding position, the list goes on

CONS: a bit spendy but it’s worth it if you’ve got the cash and want a quality ebike, other ebikes have more power
